Product Overview
Our 16MnDR, 09MnNiDR and 06Ni9DR (9%Ni) low temperature pressure vessel steel plates are specialized cryogenic steel grades manufactured under GB/T 3531 standard, with 9%Ni grade also equivalent to ASTM A553 Type 1 / A353. This series is designed for pressure equipment operating under sub-zero temperatures, especially for LNG storage and transportation industries.
16MnDR is the most widely used low-temperature carbon-manganese steel grade for service down to -40°C, suitable for moderate cryogenic pressure vessels and industrial refrigeration equipment. 09MnNiDR is nickel-alloyed low-temperature steel with improved toughness for -70°C service, commonly applied in petrochemical cryogenic storage tanks. 06Ni9DR (9%Ni) is the highest-grade cryogenic steel in this series, delivering excellent toughness down to -196°C, making it the preferred material for LNG storage tanks, LNG carriers and cryogenic gas processing equipment.
All plates are supplied in normalized and tempered condition, with guaranteed Charpy V-notch impact values at the specified test temperature. We supply full size range from 6mm to 100mm thickness, width 1500mm to 4000mm, length 3000mm to 12000mm. Custom cutting, beveling and ultrasonic testing services are available according to fabrication drawings. Every batch comes with EN 10204 3.1 or 3.2 Mill Test Certificate, including chemical composition, mechanical properties and low-temperature impact test results.

FAQs
They are graded by their minimum service temperature. 16MnDR works down to -40°C, 09MnNiDR down to -70°C, and 06Ni9DR (9%Ni) down to -196°C. Higher grades contain nickel alloy for superior cryogenic toughness.
06Ni9DR (9%Ni) steel is designed for -196°C service, making it ideal for LNG storage tanks, LNG carriers and cryogenic gas processing equipment.
All plates are supplied in normalized and tempered (N+T) condition, which is required by GB/T3531 standard for guaranteed low-temperature impact toughness.
Yes. Every batch comes with Charpy V-notch impact test certificate at the specified test temperature, included in the MTC EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2.
We supply 06Ni9DR (9%Ni) plates up to 100mm thickness. Through-thickness ultrasonic testing is available on request.
