Metal Packaging Materials | Tinplate, TFS & Aluminum Foil

Metal Materials for Packaging & Can Manufacturing

Tinplate, tin free steel, aluminum foil and coated steel—supplied for food, beverage, pharmaceutical and industrial packaging applications.

Application Environments

Our metal packaging materials support food cans, beverage containers, food sealing lids, pharmaceutical packaging, personal care packaging, lubricant and chemical metal containers, flexible aluminum foil packaging, and printed or coated metal substrates. They are used in applications requiring food-contact safety, resistance to content corrosion, deep-drawing formability, coating adhesion, printing, lamination and seam welding. These materials are also suited to high-speed stamping, forming, slitting and automated can manufacturing processes where consistent surface quality and dimensional accuracy are essential.

Challenge Vs. How We Solve It

Pain Points

Food and pharmaceutical metal packaging faces strict food-contact compliance requirements, including FDA and EU-related regulations. Coating adhesion and substance migration must be carefully controlled to prevent packaging safety and acceptance issues.

How We Solve It

Match packaging substrates and coating specifications to the required application, including food-contact tinplate, coated steel and clean aluminum foil, while coordinating the relevant coating, surface-quality and compliance documentation requirements for customer review.

Pain Points

High-speed can stamping requires excellent deep-drawing performance. Cracking, coating peeling or uneven tin distribution can lead to production defects, making substrate hardness, surface roughness and sheet flatness critical to manufacturing efficiency.

How We Solve It

Provide packaging materials with suitable forming properties and controlled surface conditions, including tinplate with uniform tin coating, forming-compatible tin free steel and coated substrates designed for high-speed stamping, printing and can production.

Pain Points

Packaging manufacturers often require several material categories simultaneously. ETP is used for food cans, TFS/ECCS for lids and closures, aluminum foil for flexible packaging, and coated steel for specialty metal containers, increasing sourcing and inventory complexity.

How We Solve It

Consolidate ETP tinplate, TFS/ECCS, aluminum foil and coated steel sheet or coil into one sourcing program, helping customers coordinate material specifications, dimensions and supply requirements across different packaging product lines.

Pain Points

Surface defects such as pinholes, scratches, missing coating and color variation can directly lead to large-scale rejection during can manufacturing, printing or lamination, resulting in material waste and production losses.

How We Solve It

Match materials to the required surface and coating quality, including uniform tin layers, consistent chromium-based coatings, pinhole-controlled aluminum foil and coated steel with reliable adhesion and forming performance.

Pain Points

Large overseas packaging manufacturers frequently require coil splitting, customized widths, precision cutting and pre-lamination. Material delivery must also align with high-speed automated production schedules to avoid line interruptions.

How We Solve It

Coordinate packaging materials in sheet, parent-coil or slit-coil supply forms according to product specifications, helping buyers align width, cutting, coating and staged delivery requirements with their can manufacturing schedules.

Recommended Products For Metal Packaging

Metal packaging materials matched to food and beverage cans, closures, pharmaceutical packaging, flexible packaging and specialty metal container production.

ETP Electrolytic Tinplate

Electrolytic tinplate for food cans, beverage containers, chemical cans and metal closures requiring reliable coating quality, deep-drawing performance and compatibility with high-speed can manufacturing.

Common Dimensions

Base Metal Thickness: 0.15–0.49 mm
Width: 600–1050 mm
Tin Coating: #25 / #50 / #75 / #100 / #110
Surface & Performance: Available in bright, stone and matte surface finishes. Features uniform tin coating without pinholes, food-contact safety, excellent deep-drawing and spot-welding performance, and resistance to mildly acidic food media. Suitable for printing, lamination and high-speed can manufacturing.

TFS / ECCS Tin Free Steel

Chromium-coated tin free steel for can ends, easy-open lids, sealing closures and packaging components requiring strong organic coating adhesion and forming performance.

Common Dimensions

Base Metal Thickness: 0.18–0.40 mm
Width: 600–1000 mm
Surface Coating Chromium + Hydrated Chromium Oxide Composite Coating
Surface & Performance: Features strong coating adhesion and compatibility with organic coatings and lamination. Offers good weldability and a cost advantage over ETP. Commonly used for easy-open can ends, peel-off lids and food sealing components.
Not recommended for prolonged direct contact with high-sulfur food contents.

Aluminum Foil

Flexible aluminum foil for food packaging, pharmaceutical blister and foil packaging, laminated structures and sealing films requiring reliable barrier performance and processing flexibility.

Common Dimensions

Thickness: 0.006–0.20 mm
Width: 100–1250 mm
Supply Form Slit Small Coil / Parent Coil
Surface & Performance: Pinhole-controlled foil with excellent moisture and oxygen barrier properties. Supports heat sealing, printing and plastic-film lamination. Features clean surfaces suitable for food and pharmaceutical packaging applications, good flexibility and compatibility with high-speed laminating, slitting and packaging-forming operations.

Coated Steel Sheet & Coil

Packaging-grade coated steel sheet and coil for specialty metal cans, lubricant containers, personal care packaging and other formed metal containers requiring protective internal coatings and printable external surfaces.

Common Dimensions

Base Metal Thickness: 0.20–0.60 mm
Width: 600–1000 mm
Coating Internal & External Epoxy / Polyester Food-Grade Coating
Surface & Performance: Food-grade internal coating provides resistance to content corrosion, while the external surface supports color printing. Offers forming performance without cracking or coating peeling. Suitable for specialty metal containers, aerosol cans and personal care product packaging.
