Product Overview
API 5L line pipe is a standard welded steel pipe system for oil, natural gas, produced water, slurry and process fluid transmission. It is produced in accordance with API Spec 5L, covering two product specification levels: PSL1 for general pipeline service and PSL2 for more demanding pipeline projects with stricter toughness and chemical composition requirements.
The product range includes grades L245, L290, L360, L415, X42, X46, X52, X56, X60, X65, X70 and X80. Lower grades such as L245, L290 and X42 are suitable for moderate pressure municipal and regional pipelines. Medium-high grades such as X52, X60 and X65 are widely used in long-distance oil and gas transmission. Higher grades X70 and X80 are used for high-pressure large-diameter trunk pipelines.
API 5L line pipe can be manufactured by ERW, SSAW or LSAW process according to diameter, wall thickness and project requirements. ERW pipe is suitable for smaller diameter lines; SSAW pipe is suitable for large diameter municipal water, sewage and gas pipelines; LSAW pipe is suitable for critical high-pressure trunk lines.
