Product Overview
Electrolytic Tinplate (ETP) is an ultra-thin low-carbon steel sheet electroplated with a pure tin layer on both sides, manufactured in accordance with GB/T 2520 and ASTM A623 international standards. It combines the strength and processing performance of the steel substrate with the protective properties of the tin coating, making it a widely used material for food and metal packaging applications.
ETP is available in Single Reduced (SR: T1, T2, T2.5, T3, T4, T5) and Double Reduced (DR: DR7, DR8, DR9, DR9M) tempers. SR grades provide different hardness levels for conventional deep drawing and flexible packaging containers, while DR grades offer higher stiffness for thin-wall lightweight cans and rigid packaging lids. BA and CA annealing options are available for different requirements in ductility, deep drawing, and stable mass stamping.
The tin coating weight ranges from 1.1/1.1 to 8.4/11.2 g/m², with different coating levels available for dry food, acidic or salty food, and chemical packaging environments. Four surface finishes—Bright, Stone, Silver, and Matte—are available to support printing, internal coating, and different packaging appearance requirements.
The pure tin layer forms an inert protective barrier that helps isolate the steel substrate from packaged contents, while the substrate maintains good plasticity and deep drawability. The material can be stamped, curled, welded, and sealed, and its flat surface supports high-quality offset printing. Typical applications include canned food bodies, aerosol spray cans, industrial paint buckets, milk powder cans, jam and seafood containers. Food safety certification and mill test certificates can be provided for international B2B supply.
