Product Overview
AH40, DH40, EH40 and FH40 are ultra-high strength shipbuilding steel plates manufactured to GB/T712 and ASTM A131 standards. This grade series is engineered for the most critical load-bearing components of large ocean-going vessels, heavy bulk carriers, offshore platform main structures, floating production units and marine heavy equipment.
The key difference between these four grades lies in the Charpy V-notch impact test temperature. AH40 meets impact requirement at 0℃, DH40 at -20℃, EH40 at -40℃, FH40 at -60℃. The whole series features minimum yield strength of 390 MPa, tensile strength ranging from 510 ~ 660 MPa. Compared with AH32 and AH36 grades, AH40 series delivers higher structural load capacity, allowing ship designers to reduce plate thickness while maintaining structural safety.
Our AH40/DH40/EH40/FH40 marine steel plates can be processed with custom cutting, flattening, edge trimming and shot blasting. Strict raw material inspection and rolling control guarantee consistent plate quality. Mill test certificates are supplied, and we support classification society material review. Ideal for deep-sea vessels and offshore projects facing heavy loads and extreme low-temperature sea conditions.

FAQs
The main difference is Charpy impact test temperature. AH40 tested at 0℃, DH40 at -20℃, EH40 at -40℃ and FH40 at -60℃. All grades have identical yield strength. Select grade based on the minimum operating temperature of your vessel or offshore project.
AH40 has higher yield strength (390MPa vs 355MPa). It allows thinner plate design under the same load requirement, reducing vessel dead weight. It is selected for heavy-load core structures where AH36 strength is insufficient.
Yes, this series is widely used for offshore main load-bearing structures. For critical offshore components, please confirm impact requirements and classification survey documents before placing orders.
Standard sizes take 18–28 working days. Orders requiring custom cutting, shot blasting or special classification survey documents will have a longer production time, confirmed upon your formal inquiry.
