Turkey Heavy Construction Machinery OEM Project

10-10, 2026

Project Overview

A heavy construction machinery manufacturer in Turkey required a comprehensive steel material supply solution for the OEM production of large mining loaders.
The manufacturing project involved several critical components, including main equipment frames, wear-resistant protective plates, loader pins, auxiliary structural supports, and hydraulic support cylinders.
Due to the demanding operating conditions of mining equipment, the manufacturer required materials with suitable mechanical strength, wear resistance, and machining performance.
The main loader frames were designed using S355JR structural steel plates, while NM400 wear-resistant steel plates were selected for protective components exposed to abrasive working conditions. ASTM 4140 alloy steel round bars were specified for loader pin blanks requiring further CNC machining.
The project also included S355JR structural H beams and ASTM A106 Gr.B seamless steel pipes for supporting equipment components.
A total of 392 tons of steel materials were supplied, together with material certificates, inspection documentation, and customized pre-cutting services to support the manufacturer’s production workflow.

Project Requirements

The OEM manufacturer required steel materials suitable for different manufacturing processes, including cutting, bending, welding, and CNC machining.
The key requirements included:

  • Structural Strength: S355JR steel plates for heavy-duty mining loader frames and load-bearing components.
  • Wear Resistance: NM400 wear-resistant steel plates for protective liners and components exposed to abrasive materials.
  • Machinability: 4140 alloy steel round bars for precision-machined loader pin components.
  •  Structural Support: S355JR H beams for auxiliary brackets and supporting structures.
  • Seamless Pipe Supply: ASTM A106 Gr.B seamless pipes for hydraulic support cylinder applications.
  •  Quality Documentation: Required EN material certificates, mechanical property verification, and non-destructive inspection results.
  • Customized Processing: Pre-cutting services according to the manufacturer’s drawings and production requirements.
  •  Stable OEM Delivery: Consistent material quality and delivery performance for repeat manufacturing orders.

The supplier needed to coordinate different steel grades and product forms while ensuring that the materials were suitable for downstream fabrication.

Steel Material Supply Details

The project included five major categories of steel materials for mining loader manufacturing.

Seamless Carbon Steel Pipe Φ168 × 8 mm A106 Gr.B / ASTM A106 27 Tons

Project Material Solutions

1. S355JR Structural Steel Plates for Mining Loader Frames
The main frames of heavy mining loaders require structural materials capable of supporting demanding mechanical loads and repeated equipment operation.
For this application, the manufacturer selected S355JR structural steel plates.
The project required 182 tons of S355JR plates with dimensions of 25 × 2000 × 10000 mm, specified according to EN 10025.
S355JR is a non-alloy structural steel grade commonly used in welded steel structures and machinery components.
Its combination of strength and fabrication characteristics made it suitable for the project’s main frame manufacturing requirements.
The supplied plates supported cutting, bending, and welding operations during loader frame fabrication.

Structural & High Tensile Strength Carbon Steel Plate

2. NM400 Wear-Resistant Steel Plates for Protective Components
Mining loaders operate in abrasive environments involving rocks, minerals, and other bulk materials.
To protect equipment components exposed to wear, the manufacturer specified NM400 wear-resistant steel plates.
A total of 76 tons of NM400 plates were supplied in 12 × 1800 × 8000 mm dimensions.
NM400 is a wear-resistant steel grade designed for applications requiring high surface hardness and resistance to abrasive wear.
The plates were intended for protective liners and wear plates installed on mining loader equipment.
The material package supported the manufacturer’s requirements for wear-resistant components that could be cut and fabricated according to equipment designs.

3. 4140 Alloy Steel Round Bars for Loader Pin Manufacturing
Loader pins are important mechanical components used in articulated joints and other moving connections of heavy equipment.
The OEM manufacturer selected 4140 chromium-molybdenum alloy steel round bars for the production of loader pin blanks.
The supply included:

  • Diameter: Φ90 mm
  • Fixed length: 6 m
  •  Material grade: 4140
  •  Standard: ASTM A29
  •  Quantity: 44 tons

4140 alloy steel is commonly used for mechanical components requiring a combination of strength, toughness, and suitable heat-treatment response.
The round bars were supplied as raw material for subsequent CNC machining and component manufacturing.

4. S355JR H Beams for Auxiliary Equipment Supports
In addition to the main loader frames, the project required structural steel sections for auxiliary supports and brackets.
The manufacturer specified S355JR H beams with dimensions of HN300 × 150 × 6.5 × 9 mm.
A total of 63 tons was supplied in fixed 12-meter lengths according to EN 10025.
The H beams supported the fabrication of auxiliary structural components and helped meet the manufacturer’s requirements for load-bearing steel sections.

5. ASTM A106 Gr.B Seamless Pipes for Hydraulic Support Cylinders
The project also required seamless carbon steel pipes for hydraulic support cylinder components.
The selected material was ASTM A106 Gr.B seamless carbon steel pipe, with dimensions of Φ168 × 8 mm.
A total of 27 tons was supplied.
The seamless pipes were intended for further processing into hydraulic support cylinder bodies.
The supplied material supported the OEM manufacturer’s requirements for pipe dimensions, mechanical properties, and downstream fabrication.

Customized Cutting and OEM Manufacturing Support

One of the key requirements of this project was the ability to supply materials suitable for immediate integration into the manufacturer’s production line.

Pre-Cutting According to Customer Requirements
The steel materials were pre-cut according to the customer’s specified dimensions and production needs.
This helped reduce additional preparation work before downstream manufacturing.
CNC Machining Compatibility
The 4140 alloy round bars and other relevant steel materials were supplied in forms suitable for further CNC machining operations.
After delivery, the prepared materials could enter the customer’s CNC production process.
Welding and Fabrication Support
The structural steel plates and sections supported the manufacturer’s welding and fabrication procedures for loader frames and related components.
The material supply was coordinated to meet the project’s cutting, bending, welding, and machining requirements.

Quality Control and Material Inspection

Material consistency and inspection performance were essential for the OEM manufacturer’s production requirements.
The project included verification of mechanical properties and the specified non-destructive testing requirements.
Mechanical Property Verification
The supplied steel materials met the required mechanical property acceptance criteria.
Non-Destructive Testing
The materials successfully passed the required flaw detection inspections, supporting their acceptance for the specified manufacturing applications.
Material Certificates
The relevant material certificates and quality documentation were supplied to support the manufacturer’s incoming material inspection and traceability requirements.
Dimensional Preparation
Customized pre-cutting was completed according to the customer’s requirements, allowing the materials to proceed directly to the planned CNC machining and welding stages.

Project Results

The integrated steel supply package successfully supported the production of heavy-duty mining loader equipment.
The project achieved the following results:

  • Qualified Material Performance: Mechanical properties and required non-destructive inspection results met the project acceptance criteria.
  • Customized Pre-Cutting: Steel materials were cut according to customer requirements before delivery.
  • Production-Ready Supply: Prepared materials proceeded directly into CNC machining and welding processes.
